Abstract

Management of heavy equipment such as bulldozers and excavators is an important aspect carried out by PT. X in order to maintain the company's performance and economic stability. By considering the economic life of heavy equipment, the defender - challenger method using the concept of annual equivalent value can be used to conduct an analysis of heavy equipment replacement through several replacement scenarios. The research conducted focused on the BL 032 - 20 bulldozer and CE 130 - 20 excavator with a total of 7 replacement scenarios starting from after the economic life of the heavy equipment (4 years) has expired to 6 years after the economic life of the heavy equipment has expired. From the results of the scenarios carried out, it was found that the bulldozer heavy equipment will obtain the highest annual equivalent value of Rp. 138,582,757 in the scenario 5 or 4 years after the economic life of the equipment has expired, namely in the year or when the age of the heavy equipment is 8 years. Meanwhile, the excavator will obtain the highest annual equivalent value of Rp. 204,325,033 in the 4 or 3 year scenario after the equipment's economic life is over, namely in 2026 or when the heavy equipment is 7 years old. With the results of this analysis, it can be used as a benchmark in considering the timing of heavy equipment replacement for PT. X to obtain maximum profit from each piece of heavy equipment.
